Welcome James!

Hello, my name is James Cooper, I am a final year graduate entry physiotherapy student at the University of South Australia.

I have been involved in the fitness industry for the past 16 years, specialising in strength and conditioning. I worked as an S&C coach with the SANFL North Adelaide Rooster’s under 18’s and senior team squad (2012-2014 seasons). I have also worked with the Adelaide Crows (2018/’19 season), assisting with their development program. I attained my Exercise and Sports Science degree in 2019 with the University of South Australia and physiotherapy seemed like a natural career progression. I will complete my Masters’ of Physiotherapy here at Barossa Physiotherapy, being my final placement.

I am a certified Pilates Matwork instructor with experienced teaching clients using the Pilates Reformer. I hold a level 2 strength and conditioning license through the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) and have obtained my state level weightlifting license. For the past 7 years I have been coaching adults at a CrossFit gym in Adelaide as well as recreational gymnastics with children at YMCA Walkerville (beginner to advanced levels).

I believe exercise is key in maintaining and promoting a long-term healthy lifestyle. My Masters’ program has kept me busy the last couple of years and I have not trained as much as I would have liked, but normally I enjoy gymnastic strength training, barbell training and Pilates. I am hoping to see some sights and eat some delicious food and wine during my stay here in Nuriootpa; the list of places to dine are increasing by the day. Please feel free to provide suggestions.

In my spare time I enjoy reading about business, doing handstands and having a cup of tea.
